Grievances

If your counselor is licensed or pre-licensed, the Board of Behavioral Sciences (BBS) receives and responds to complaints regarding services provided within the scope of practice (marriage and family therapists, licensed educational psychologists, clinical social workers, or professional clinical counselors). You may contact the board online at www.bbs.ca.gov, or by calling (916) 574-7830.

 

If your counselor is licensed psychologist or psychological associate, the California Board of Psychology receives and responds to complaints regarding services provided. You may contact the board by calling at (866) 503-3221 or using the online form to file a complaint (https://www.breeze.ca.gov/datamart/complaint.do?applicationId=1).


If your counselor is a student trainee, the Gender Health Center receives and responds to complaints regarding the practice of psychotherapy by any unlicensed or unregistered counselor providing services at the Gender Health Center.
